Sneak peek at what I’ve been working on

So, what I’ve been working on since I re-discovered Mr. Shelly in 2012 is mostly digitizing my original artwork. This involves re-creating it – and you may be surprised that I do all of my art in PowerPoint. I use a lot of shapes and gradients to try to render the original art made using markers into something as close as possible to the original.

Digitizing has many advantages. I can create special effects that enhance the art beyond what I was able to achieve with paper and markers. I can copy and paste, and use the same character over and over and know that it’s going to be the same every time (and make slight changes to adapt the character to the scene and what’s happening, so it doesn’t look copied and pasted!). And, it allows me to be consistent across works. It’s surprisingly hard to re-create with paper and markers the art of 12-year-old me. But, using PowerPoint, I can now use what I’ve already created to create new art that has more of the same style as the originals.

So here are a few pieces I have been working on. I’ll be sharing more as time goes on!
